Vitamin C is one of the 13 vitamins that can do wonders to your skin. It’s a vitamin that has amazing anti-oxidant properties that helps fix the photo-damage of your skin. In addition, it has proven anti-aging properties thereby improving the overall look of your skin.
Many skin-care & cosmetic companies have Vitamin C containing products that effectively help reduce skin damage, lighten dark spots, even out fine lines & reduce premature aging. One of the Vitamin C containing products that I include in my skin-care routine is
The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser.
Because it is a light and easily absorbable moisturizer, I use it in the morning before leaving the house. It is recommended to apply Vitamin C containing products a few minutes (15 to 20 minutes) before you step out, to have an effective photo-blocking property. Incase of a Vitamin C serum, use the serum right before the moisturiser.
While choosing a Vitamin C skin-care product, it is essential to look out for their concentrations. Usually, Vitamin C in concentrations between 5% to 30%is safe enough for your skin to tolerate. However, for dry and sensitive skin type, a lower concentration is recommended. It is suggested to do a small patch test to observe any sensitive reactions.
Since Vitamin C is highly unstable, products usually have the vitamin in their stable salt form.
For dry & mature skin, see for products which contain tetrahexyldecyl ascorbateor ascorbyl palmitateIf you have an oily skin, go for products that contain sodium ascorbyl phosphateor L-ascorbic acidin them, since these are lighter on the skin and are easily absorbable.
The BodyShop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser contains tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate form of Vitamin C. Other ingredients such as Sesame Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin & Sea Wateraid the hydrating power of the moisturizer. The reason why I personally love using this product is, it is perfectly suitable for humid climate conditions & for its citrusy fragrance. Because it is much of a gel consistency and not a creamy one, it gets absorbed quickly. The quantity required is very less, hence, it may seem to be expensive for some, but a little goes a long way!
I have been using it since the past few months and my skin feels fresh after application. Overall, post application my skin looks dewy without feeling sticky, which I love. It has helped in lightens the dark spots on my skin & evening out the overall skin tone.
I would highly recommend The BodyShop’s Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser!
